Morrisons constantly looking at new promotions

UK supermarket chain Morrisons has made its intentions for the video game space clear, terming its games offering ‘very important’ after slashing the price of big-name new releases like Tiger Woods to just 15.

The deals were advertised in the national press, and are set to last until September 14th. Games on offer include Mercenaries 2 on Xbox 360 for 25, Spore Creatures for just 12.99 and Tiger Woods PGA Tour ’09 All Play for 15. Other chart titles for Xbox 360, PS3, DS and Wii have also been heavily discounted.

Morrisons is committed to offering value for money deals across the full weekly shop including food and non food items,” a Morrisons spokesperson told MCV. Gaming and home entertainment are very important in today’s current climate and Morrisons is constantly looking at new promotions for the customer.”

Some specialist retailers have expressed concerns that such offers could devalue new releases. However, several independents have told MCV that they’ve taken full advantage of the deals.

Our staff went down there bright and early to score some extra stock,” said one leading independent. The real bargain on show was Guitar Hero: On Tour, which was only 12.50.”

Morrisons tend to do themed special offers every week. Last week it was lunch box products that were heavily discounted. Expect plenty of Mercenaries 2 to appear on eBay next week…”
