Mortal Kombat X custom controller for PS4 and Xbox One revealed by PDP

Accessories specialist PDP has revealed a custom controller for upcoming fighting title Mortal Kombat X.

The firm, which was previously behind the GameCube controller-like Fight Pads for Wii U, showed CNET’s Brian Tong the new peripheral.

The controller will be released for both PS4 and Xbox One, with additional support for PS3 and Xbox 360 via a switcher.

Emblazoned with the Mortal Kombat name and dragon logo, the pad drops both analog sticks in favour of a single D-Pad – the preferred mode of control for fighting fans.

The A,B, X and Y (Square, Circle, Triangle and X for PlayStation) face buttons, as well as the RB and LB (R1 and L1) triggers, are rearranged into a six-button layout – akin to that of a dedicated arcade stick – for faster access during battles.

The controller is expected to retail for between $35 and $50 in the US, meaning it should cost from 23 to 33 here in the UK.
