Multiformat games portal emerges

A new casual online games portal has emerged driven by a host of industry veterans.

TeePee Games will allow users to pull in games from Facebook, smartphones, websites and elsewhere, and customise their own individual homepage.

The company and self-titled website has already secured $500,000 in seed funding, and is headed up by CEO Tony Pearce, former owner of mobile games distributor Player X. He left the firm as of May this year.

Former Sega CEO and head of Virgin Games Nick Alexander joins as TeePee Games’ chairman, while former Game Jacket MD and Peppermint P co-founder Simon Jones becomes chief commercial officer for the firm.

Metaflow CEO Charles McLeod is appointed non-executive director and joins as part of a partnership between TeePee Games and Metaflow, which provides tools for downloadable content developers and publishers. McLeod will help deliver games across smartphones such as Android, Blackberry and Windows Mobile.

TeePee Games features a ‘discovery engine’ which learns and grows with the user, builds them a unique profile and delivers relevant games to each player. The portal has been in development this year and is scheduled to launch in Q1 2011. It features the tagline: Where your games live.”

CEO Tony Pearce told MCV: TeePee Games will make games discovery across social networks, smartphones and websites much easier.

We will still offer games on mobile, however our focus is on social networking games especially on Facebook where it’s very hard to discover great new titles.

If there are any developers or publishers of Facebook games, online flash games or smartphone games and want to be part of our portal from launch, please contact darren.newnham@teepeegames.com”
