Music industry video producers create live action We Dance trailer

The guys who put music videos together for Franz Ferdinand and Depeche Mode have produced the first trailer for Nordic Games’ We Dance.

The publisher collaborated with music industry luminaries Rob Chandler and Chris Brown to create a live action trailer in which the dancers are styled to match the game’s stylised silhouette characters.

The full trailer can be viewed below and demonstrates the different control schemes of the dancing title, which is due for release on Wii on September 2nd.

Before shooting the We Dance trailer we brainstormed ideas and were inspired by the avatars used on the packshot,” said Rob Chandler. As a result we decided to create realistic dancing silhouettes in the launch video. This style naturally linked to other iconic ‘silhouette’ moving images, so we set about creating our own unique take on it.”

Brown added: "On the day of filming we had pre-mixed four songs together and made preview videos that matched the choreography from the game. The mix was played back to the dancers as we filmed multiple takes of each song; this gave us a wide variety of shots for the final edit.

"We also used a lot of in camera shaking techniques to connect the energy and movement of the dancers to the shots. This gave the footage a more human feel rather than adding it in afterwards.”

The release of the trailer coincide with the launch of a new website, www.wedance.com. The site will provide game information to consumers, including where they can pre-order the game. After launch, it will allow players to upload and share their own We Dance videos.
