Namco Bandai maintains grip on Japanese market

Good news for Namco Bandai this morning – the publisher has claimed the lion’s share of Japanese software revenues for the second month in a row.

Enterbrain’s numbers, as reported by Andriasang, show that the company accounted for 36.8 per cent of the overall software market – that’s nearly three times as much as its closest rival Nintendo.

The driver behind the success Dynasty Warriors title One Piece Pirate Musou, which sold 771k units in March.

Second place Nintendo claimed 12.5 per cent of the market. Its best selling games were 3DS outing Kid Icarus Uprising (144k) and the Sega-developed Mario & Sonic at the London Olympics (105k).
