Revenues stood at 90 billion yen ($826m), a dip of 6.4 per cent year-on-year, whilst operating income for the first quarter, fell from 4.47 billion yen ($41m) in Q1 2007-2008 to 1.53 billion yen ($14m).
The firm’s video games division reported Q1 sales of 25.5 billion yen ($233.3m) – year-on-year growth of 3.8 per cent. 13 titles were shipped globally.
The break down of sales saw 1.7 million units shifted in Japan during Q1, while 1.39 million were sold in Europe. 740,000 and 113,000 units were sold in North America and Asia respectively.
The company’s biggest-selling title during Q1 was Dragon Ball Z Budokai Tenkaichi 3, of which 420,000 units were snapped up in Europe.
Namco Bandai has now has full year sales of 470 billion yen, up 2.1 percent on FY 2007-2008.
Operating income is expected to hit 38 billion yen, up 13.7 percent, whilst net profit is forecast to decline by 31 percent to 22.5 billion yen.
