The release of movie game Yoostar 2 – billed as ‘the next Guitar Hero’ – will be handled by Namco Bandai in the UK and Europe.
The publisher won the distribution rights for the ambitious Move and Kinect title, which lets players act out scenes from popular films such as The Terminator and Shaun of the Dead.
The original Yoostar was released for PC in 2009 but never made it to UK shelves. Most of the major film studios are involved with Yoostar 2, which will be released within the next few months.
Namco Bandai Partners marketing director Lee Kirton told MCV: We see Yoostar 2 as a fantastic new title with incredible potential for Kinect and Move.
It’s incredibly good fun and features scenes from some of the most memorable movies ever. With all the integrated social media functionality, the game has the potential to really grow the audience for Kinect and Move.”
Players can record scenes and share them via Facebook and Twitter – and potentially YouTube. Viral marketing will also be key to Yoostar’s success.
We believe Yoostar can be successful off the back of the Move and Kinect launches,” said Yoostar’s VP of European marketing Tina Moore.
It’s all about putting this in the hands of consumers as users upload and see videos on social networking sites, it will become viral.”
The game’s publisher – also named Yoostar – is currently looking to open a UK office later this year.
