Ahead of what will be one of the fiercest contests ever seen in the games industry later this year, GAME has argued that the support of High Street retail is vital to the success of the upcoming motion control revolution.
Both Microsoft and Sony will launch their motion controllers, dubbed Natal and PlayStation Move respectively, this Q4. It is hoped the launches will provide a welcome boost to retail after a tough couple of years.
“These products will continue to broaden the appeal of video games and expand customer choice, with GAME being a key destination for showcasing their launches,” chairman Peter Lewis argued.
“They will require demonstration and explanation, both of which are the province of the specialist. We are seeing new entrants to our market, including mobile operators, and are extending our offer in store and online to provide our customers with even more choice.”
