New Lumines on the way to iOS after Q Entertainment sells rights

The Lumines series has swapped ownership and is on track for a new entry on iOS.

Gematsu reports that Mobcast and Enhance Games have acquired both the Lumines and Meteos properties from previous owner Q Entertainment. Enhance is owned by Tetsuya Mizuguchi, formerly of Q Entertainment and the creator of both series.

Also announced is a new Lumines game for iOS, which is being re-engineered specifically for smartphones.

Lumines debuted in 2004 and has gone on to spawn four sequels, the latest of which was Vita’s Lumines Electronic Symphony released in 2012.

Meteos was seen as a sort of adaptation of the Lumines formula, arriving on DS in 2005.
