New Resident Evil movie coming this year

Capcom and Sony Pictures have confirmed that the latest in the Resident Evil Movie series, dubbed Degeneration, will be released this year.

The duo showed off sneak previews of the fully CG-animated title at last week Comic Con in San Diego, US.

The title will have its theatrical debut in Japan in the Autumn, following on Blu-Ray, DVD and PSP in North America later this year. A PAL release is yet to be confirmed.

Capcom describes the plot as:

‘The "Umbrella Incident" that took place in Raccoon City ended with a missile attack ordered by the government intended to wipe out the deadly zombie virus. Following this catastrophe, the Umbrella Corporation’s stock plummeted.

This serious blow to the business giant resulted in its complete dissolution. Seven years later, at an airport somewhere in the United States, on an ordinary autumn afternoon, a zombie is unleashed. Now, in an airport beginning to fill with the undead, the horrific disaster is about to repeat itself…’
