New THQ logo revealed

THQ has ditched its well-known white-on-black logo in favour of a new grey and red symbol today.

The updated logo will appear on upcoming games and products from next month onwards. It marks THQ’s commitment to a ‘new strategic and creative vision’.

THQ president and CEO Brian Farrell said: “Our new logo epitomises the change, innovation and creative growth that are the cornerstones of the new THQ.

“By developing triple-A, innovative, original IPs, attracting the top talent in the industry and placing that talent first, THQ continues to redefine itself. This new logo seeks to capture that change and make it tangible.”

Farrell discussed how the games industry is also going through a change.

“Over the past few years the gaming industry has seen an unprecedented period of innovation,” he added.

“You can see it in the deep, rich storylines, in the expansion of social and mobile gaming, and in the introduction of new technologies that enhance the gaming experience.

“THQ is proving its commitment to deliver the best experience to gamers through internally developed original IPs such as Homefront and uDraw, creative partnerships with Guillermo del Toro and Tomonobu Itagaki, and new talent acquisitions such as Patrice Désilets, in order to solidify its position as a flagship publisher of extraordinary interactive entertainment.”

Désilets is an ex-Ubisoft creative director who worked on Assassin’s Creed, and Itagaki is the creator of Dead or Alive.

THQ recently announced details of InSane – a horror game in collaboration with film director del Toro.
