Nintendo and retailers sued over Wii Remote

The owner of a laser-pointing presentation remote is taking Nintendo and several retailers to court over the Wii controller.

Gamasutra reports Technology manufacturer UltimatePointer claims the Wii Remote has infringed its patent for Upoint – a laser-pointing device designed for presentations.

The firm is seeking damages, court costs and royalty payments from the case.

UltimatePointer has allegedly accused several retailers of selling the infringing Wii Remote product including GameStop, Best Buy, QVC, Toys ‘R’ Us, Dell, Walmart and Target.

The Upoint device is currently in testing and is not yet on general sale.

The news comes after ThinkOptical filed a similar lawsuit earlier this month.
