NINTENDO: EA backs Wii U

Electronic Arts is on board to develop games for the newly announced Wii U console.

John Riccitiello took to the stage during Nintendo’s E3 press conference. Having made several appearances at Microsoft and Sony conferences, this was the first time he has spoken at a Nintendo E3 event.

"This a breakthrough in our relationship based on a breakthrough in games development," he said. "We look forward to seeing great EA content on this innovative new platform. Nintendo’s next console is truly transformational, a better platform than we’ve ever been offered by them before."

While no details or game announcements were given, Riccitiello openly pondered the possibilities for titles such as Madden and Battlefield on the new console, championing its HD graphics, online capabilities, unique structure.

He promised that Wii U would mark the beginning of an "unprecedented" partnership between EA and Nintendo.
