Additionally, Nintendo revealed that wi-fi-enabled racer Mario Kart DS surpassed the one million mark in the US in just seven weeks from release, with Nintendogs hitting 1.5m sales since August. The firm added that over 550,000 users have already connected to its online gaming service globally.
"At a time when some sectors of the video games industry are softening, Nintendo DS and the Game Boy Advance line remain shining stars because of their fun experiences and innovative game play," commented Nintendo of America executive VP of sales and marketing Reggie Fils-Aime.
"It's important to note that these strong figures represent Nintendo hand-held units and games that consumers have purchased and are now enjoying at home or wherever they like to play."
