Nintendo UK boss Simon Kemp to leave

Nintendo’s UK general manager Simon Kemp is leaving the company.

Kemp replaced David Yarnton as the UK boss in 2012.

He will be temporarily replaced by Stephan Bole, who is senior managing director for European subsidiaries. Nintendo is seeking a permanent replacement for Kemp.

Nintendo of Europe told MCV that Kemp is leaving ‘to pursue opportunities for a change of career outside Nintendo’.

"Simon has performed the role of general manager of Nintendo UK since November 2012. Nintendo would like to take this opportunity to thank Simon for his services to Nintendo UK and to wish him every success in his choice of new career," the company said in a statement.

Kemp is the latest senior departure from Nintendo UK. PR boss Jo Bartlett and marketing head Shelly Pearce left in 2015, followed by senior marketing exec James Honeywell in February this year.

However, the company has recently made several key recruits.

Matthias Hempfling has joined as marketing and PR director, and Kalpesh Tailorhas has come on-board as head of communications. Both join from Nintendo’s European head office in Frankfurt.
