Nintendo UK on the hunt for new PR agency

Ahead of the release of Wii U later this year, Nintendo’s UK office has ditched its current PR agency Good Relations.

PR Week reports that the company has put its entire UK consumer and corporate PR business out to pitch. Current holder Chime has declined the chance to repitch.

The site speculates that the account is worth around 350,000 on a fees-only basis, with a source adding: The challenge for the chosen agency will be keeping the existing Wii platform commercially viable as well as evoking excitement and anticipation in consumers and the industry for the Wii U launch.”

The process is in its early stages with meetings to take place with prospective agencies over the next few weeks with the view to compiling a shortlist by the end of the month.

‘The year 2012 is a big one for Nintendo and with this in mind we are currently reviewing our PR agency,” a spokesperson confirmed. The first round of this process has already been completed.”
