The performance of the DS has been key to Nintendo’s upbeat fortunes, with worldwide sales of the handheld expected to reach 23 million during the fiscal year.
The newly-launched Wii has also contributed to the company’s performance. Nintendo’s projection of six million hardware sales by the end of March remains unchanged, but software sales for the format are now expected to reach 21 million. The previous forecast was for 17m Wii software sales.
