No-one’s above our ‘Station

We hope that the PS3 will become the entertainment hub of the living room, by removing the need for a broad range of separate devices. PS3 encompasses them all into one small and easy to use box.

Consumers can store and browse photos, music and video files, access the internet and download content, as well as playing CDs, DVDs and Blu-Ray movie discs. In addition to this, if you have a PlayStation Portable (PSP), all of the content stored on your PS3, as well as on the devices connected to it (iPod, digital camera, camcorder etc.), can be browsed and accessed remotely, via the wireless connection on your PSP.

We have invested billions of dollars in the development and production of the ‘Cell Processor’, which is at the very heart of the PS3. And it’s this heart, in terms of performance, that makes the PS3 over 40 times more powerful than the PlayStation 2, and twice as powerful as our nearest competitor. This allows us to offer and deliver a broad range of content in unparalleled visual and audio fidelity.

Notably, with high definition ready TVs becoming more and more commonplace in people’s living-rooms, PS3 has been designed to fully exploit this technology to the full.

We believe by hitting the market when we can offer a platform, and functionality, that to all intents and purposes is future proof, we’re protecting the consumer from having to buy expensive add-ons, in an effort to keep the machine up to date. By waiting, and using this time to fully develop the technology at the heart of PS3, it helps ensure that it will remain at the cutting edge, for many years to come.

Whilst we accept that the PS3 is perceived to be costly, when compared to more traditional gaming consoles, as outlined, the vast array of functionality it offers and its future proof design ensure that you’re getting a long-term return on your investment, and a machine that will be at the centre of your living room, for many years to come.

With this in mind, we believe the PlayStation 3 offers excellent value for money.
