Nordic Games removes GFWL requirement from Red Faction: Guerrilla

New Red Faction IP owner Nordic Games has announced the removal of Games for Windows Live from Red Faction: Guerrilla on PC.

A post by executive producer Reinhard Pollice on the game’s Steam Community boards reveals a public beta is now running to test for stability errors and bugs – as the latest update adds a host of new features as well.

The game now carries full Steam support, Steamworks multiplayer and matchmaking, leaderboards, chat and achievements.

The DirectX 10 requirement has been lowered as well, with the new updated defaulting to the DX9 Renderer.

DX10 created a lot of problems and resulted in performance drawbacks,” Pollice said.

Earlier this week, Nordic purchased rights to de Blob – the latest in the firm’s acquisitions of assets from defunct publisher THQ.
