Xbox 360 platform holder Microsoft is in positive mood this morning following a good performance in NPD’s North American November sales stats that showed the best ever month for its next-gen console.

Along with 836,000 console sales, the format also boasted $298 million in third party software sales. Following on from what Microsoft claimed was a three-to-one sales lead over PS3 over the Black Friday weekend, its machine went on to better PS3’s sales by a ratio of two-to-one and beat the combined sales of PS3 and PS2.

Microsoft also claims to be enjoying the industry’s best-ever software attach rate, which currently stands at 8.1.

A few details about Xbox Live were also revealed, including the fact that the service currently sees over 1.5 million transactions and four million game sessions every day, with 30,000 pieces of content currently available to download over the network.

“We’ve created the optimal line-up of experiences this holiday season for families seeking lasting entertainment value, particularly during rough economic times in the US and abroad,” senior vice president of the Interactive Entertainment Business at Microsof Don Mattrick stated.

“We have the largest library of games, TV and movie content and the most expansive and rewarding social experiences. We’re confident Xbox 360 will continue to drive record sales around the world this holiday and beyond.”
