One million Wii units for US

Next Generation reveals that Nintendo of Canada’s VP and general manager Ron Bertram has predicted that one million units will be heading to the territory for the launch of Wii on November 19th: “If we get what we’re supposed to get, this will be our most plentiful launch in the 15 years I’ve been at Nintendo. All signs are extremely positive.”

With Nintendo UK boss David Yarnton telling MCV last week that four million units will be ready globally for the launch period, if these numbers are correct it suggests that Europe could be in line for a good proportion of the initial hardware.

In contrast, Sony is predicting that 400,000 units will be ready for the US launch of PS3 on November 17th, roughly the same amount as Microsoft made available for the launch of Xbox 360 last year.
