PC UT3 mods will work on PS3

Epic Games, the developer of recent PC release and upcoming PS3 (and at some stage Xbox 360) title Unreal Tournament 3 has revealed that it is to release a patch that will allow PS3 gamers to access content constructed with the PC version’s game editor.

And the hurdle of getting the content onto PS3 itself seems to have been overcome too. Epic itself has outlined a method using a PC and memory stick whilst UT web community UT3mod.com claims that it’s possible to import the content via the PS3’s web browser.

"We’ve been doing some internal testing and we’re hoping to expand to a wider group tomorrow or Friday," Epic vice president Mark Rein stated on the game’s forum. "If all goes well then we should see the update released next week which is what I expect will happen."

The news will be welcomed by console gamers who can now look forward to the chance of sampling the vast wealth of user-generated content taken for granted by those using PC.
