The recently released PC version of Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance on Steam appears to crash if a user’s internet connection is lost.
Numerous users have taken to the Steam forums to complain both that the game – which is entirely single player – won’t launch at all in offline mode and stops working if an internet connection is lost mid-session.
But before the DRM crowd amasses pitchforks and storms the Konami offices, it doesn’t seem to be a DRM issue in so far as the game’s listing makes no mention of it.
Furthermore, there has been some suggestion on NeoGaf that the problems stem from issues with how the game handles Steam’s API. If it is a fault then users can expect Konami to patch the problem.
A producer at Platinum games has also vowed to investigate the issue.
UPDATE 1: CVG reports that Konami has pledged to fix the problem.
UPDATE 2: Konami says the issue has now been fixed. That was quick!
