PES 2009 downloadable roster updates confirmed

Ahead of tomorrow’s release of Pro Evolution Soccer 2009, publisher Konami has confirmed that the game is to receive periodic squad updates going forwards – with the first set to arrive some time in early November.

The first patch will offer updates to four Spanish sides (Athletico Madrid, Sevilla, Racing Santander and Valladolid) and will also tweak of number of kits and team rosters for some of the game’s other clubs. Additionally, 12 extra teams will be added to the UEFA Champions League lineup.

PES 2009 is already a million seller in pre-orders alone, but these new additions show how we are determined to continually improve the content of the game,” Konami’s PES European Team Leader Jon Murphy stated. We hope the updated team data and new UEFA Champions League elements will show our ongoing support for PES 2009’s team rosters, and look to continually enhancing such sections in the coming year at no extra cost.”

Yesterday saw the first reviews of PES 2009 hit the internet, with the game receiving an overall positive response.
