PES 2016 returns to earlier release date

PES 2016 has shifted back to its traditional release window and will arrive just before FIFA 16, Konami has said.

The game will hit PS4, Xbox One, PS3, Xbox 360 and PC on September 18th – a week ahead of FIFA 16 which arrives on September 22nd. Last year’s outing wasn’t released until November.

It promises a significantly improved collision system, calculating how players interact and creating a unique outcome depending on the type of impact” and a new aerial battle system that uses the left stick to jostle for position.

1v1 controls have been tightened with players able to feign moves and potentially unbalance opponents. Precise tackles can also lead to winning immediate possession, too, while fellow AI players should be smart enough to recognise a one-two opportunity without a user having to manually trigger it.

Celebration control is now manualised, as well, with prompts appearing to trigger trademark moves.

The popular Master League mode has had a total revamp” complete with a new transfer system while the Fox Engine powered visuals have also been enhanced, complete with a dynamic weather system. Peter Drury and Marco Hagemann have recorded lots of new commentary dialogue.

Konami also says that edit mode has updated, with PS4 and PS3 owners now able to import images into the game.

"PES 2016 will be the best game in the series," Konami’s European brand director of Football Erik Bladinieres said. "This is solely due to the passionate feedback and support from our users and the community, which helped us get back to the core of what PES is.

We truly believe with PES 2016 we will continue to celebrate the history of PES and everything it stands for, and create a new level of quality that has never been reached by any football game. Here’s to another 20 years."

Pre-ordering either the Day One Edition or Anniversary Edition will net users a few in-game benefits, such as being able to loan in the game’s cover star Neymar.
