Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney 5 skips physical release

Capcom has confirmed that Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney – Dual Destinies will not be released physically in Europe or North America.

Historically it’s been tough to attract long term retail support for Ace Attorney titles,” a rep stated on the Capcom forums. With the release of Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney – Dual Destinies we wanted as many people as possible to be able to enjoy the game for as long as possible. With that in mind we have opted for a digital only release via the Nintendo 3DS eShop.”

The confirmation came in a thread where users were pleading for the game to be released at retail.

Capcom, we absolutely need a physical release for this game, which the European presser did not mention at all,” the thread creator stated. Please at least give the option through your store or something!”

Capcom sympathises with this perspective but looks as if it will not be changing its strategy.

Sorry guys, but a physical release is not in the cards,” the rep added. I understand that this decision may upset fans who wanted to have a physical version of the title to add to their collection but we believe this direction is the best to take.”
