PopCap rep withdraws EA denial

"Sorry, I might not have been clear. I was simply stating that@TechCrunch‘s article is not true."

That claim was this morning made by PopCap’s community rep Jennifer Kye, according the Venturebeat. Shortly afterwards the tweet was deleted.

While it may simply be a case of PopCap ensuring that employees stick true to the "not commenting on rumour and speculation" ethic, rumours continue that a possible move is afoot.

Though despite claims this morning, many are now questioning whether EA will indeed be the potential suitor.

Forbes speculates that a number of Chinese companies may be in a better position to acquire the firm, with interactive entertainment services company Tencent Holdings pinned as the most likely candidate.

However, also named are microblogging specialists SINA Corp, games company Sohu.com, Chinese Google rival Baidu and casual specialist Shanda Games.
