Potter flies to top of the charts

Lucasarts’ Star Wars Battlefront II firmly holds on to second spot, despite a 32 per cent drop in units. Last week’s number one, THQ’s WWE Smackdown vs Raw 2006, falls to third place, whilst Konami’s Pro Evolution Soccer 5 moves up a spot, climbing to fourth thanks to a 22 per cent sales increase. EA’s footballing rival FIFA 06 drops two spots to fifth, whilst Atari’s The Matrix: Path of Neo climbs three places to claim sixth spot.

Thanks to widespread PSP bundling to accompany the release of the PSP Giga Pack, Sony’s World Tour Soccer enjoys a mammoth 999 per cent increase in sales, claiming seventh place in this week’s charts, whilst the hardware itself enjoys a unit sales increase of 81 per cent.

EA’s The Sims 2 slips one spot to eighth whilst Activision’s Gun enters the top ten for the first time, climbing five places to reach number nine. Propping up the rest of the top ten, Rockstar’s Grand Theft Auto: Liberty City Stories drops from fourth to tenth place.

Meanwhile, it was a slow start for many of this year’s Christmas contenders, with Activision’s Call of Duty 2: Big Red One debuting in 12th place, just ahead of Ubisoft’s King Kong, which enters the chart at 14. EA’s From Russia With Love claims 19th spot and Sega’s Shadow the Hedgehog enters at 25.
