Profits on the rise at THQ

Net sales for the period were $240.2 million, compared to $142.7 million for the same quarter last year, whilst net income was $12.6 million compared to a loss of $1.4 million last year.

The most successful performers for the company throughout the period were Xbox 360 free-roaming action title Saints Row, critically acclaimed PC RTC Company of Heroes and Disney Pixar’s Cars.

“The success is thanks to a balanced mix of owned properties and games based on world-class brands,” stated CEO Brian Farrell. “We have established two significant new franchises that we view as important pillars of our growth for many years to come.”

THQ has raised its guidance for the year, anticipating sales of $925-975 million.
