Project Cars 2 announced, crowdfunding opens

Slightly Mad Studios has announced a sequel to Project Cars is in development, following the oft-delayed title’s release last month.

The developer has already launched acrowdfunding campaignvia the World of Mass Development portal – the same platform the first Project Cars gathered funding on. Slightly Mad has made a 250,000 contribution of its on as it seeks a target budget of 7m. Reward tiers for backing the upcoming game range from 50 to 10,000.

The studio explains the sequel’s reveal doesn’t spell the end for Project Cars. Both projects will be simultaneously active and the ongoing development of Project Cars is being referred to as the studio’s on demand” program.

Over the next year, players will see Project CARS grow, evolve, and continue to be updated regularly throughout 2015 and beyond via our ON DEMAND programme,” the announcement reads. But additionally, planning and work will now begin on the continuation of the franchise with PROJECT CARS 2 that contains substantial features and content deserving of a fully-fledged sequel.”

Project Cars 2 will launch on PS4, Xbox One, PC and Steam OS, while Project Cars is available now on PS4, Xbox One and PC. Wii U and SteamOS version’s of the original game are also scheduled to arrive sometime this year.
