Project CARS Wii U release looking unlikely

It’s starting to look unlikely that the Wii U version of Project CARS will ever be released.

Taking to the developer Slightly Mad Studios’ own forums, studio head Ian Bell said that the Wii U SKU was running at 23 frames per second at 720p.

Bell also said it was looking at hear more about Nintendo’s NX at this E3, suggesting that Slightly Mad might bringing Project CARS to that platform.

That’s in spite of the fact that Nintendo has already stated that it will not be showing off NX at E3.

Project CARS came out for PS4, Xbox One and PC earlier this year, and was Bandai Namco’s first consecutive No.1 in the Top 40 since 1999. The game was delayed more than once, with the Wii U version seeming to always be trailing behind its PS4, Xbox One and PC brethren.

At the moment we’re running at about 23FPS on the Wii U,” said Bell.

We’re awaiting/hoping for more of a hardware announcement at E3…Honestly, unless we really cut the looks back I think we’re looking to Nintendo’s next console. 720p yes. If [Nintendo doesn’t] announce something at E3 or soon after we will have a go at [a Wii U version].”
