Guerrilla Games’ 2004 PS2 shooter Killzone is to receive a release on PSN.
Game Informer reports that it won’t be a full HD remake, but instead an emulated title offered as part of the existing PS2 library.
It has been given a price of $9.99 in the US.
The game was infamous at the time of its release after Sony execs touted it as a potential Halo-beater. Back then, Halo was making big waves on Xbox and Sony was desperate to get an exclusive title under its belt to boost PS2’s FPS credentials.
However, while graphically stunning for its time the game received a lukewarm reception from critics. Still, it has gone on to spawn two sequels, as well as a PSP spin-off.
Last year’s Killzone 3 was a graphical masterpiece on PS3 and one the machine’s best releases of 2011.
