PS3 shifts 1.2 million in Europe over Xmas

, Sony’s games president Kaz Hirai has revealed that the firm sold 1.2 million PS3 consoles in Europe in the last five weeks of 2007.

He also refused to concede that Sony is unlikely to hit the 11 million sales target, that it had previously set itself, by the end of its financial year in March, stating:

"We haven’t made any conclusion whether we have to give it up. It depends on how aggressively dealers buy our PS3 inventory.”

Bloomberg also claims that analysts expect to Sony to sell 8 million PS3’s for the year ending March 31st, with Microsoft selling 9.1 million Xbox 360’s and Nintendo 19 million Wii’s.
