Sony has revealed just how well its PS4 console did over the Christmas period.
The firm announced that it shifted 6.2m units over the festive season, bringing total sales of the machine up to 53.4m, as of January 1st 2017. That’s roughly 3.4m units sold since the firm announced its 'more than 50m' sales milestone.
Furthermore, the platform holder claims that it sold 50.4m units of software both digitally and physically over the same period. Uncharted 4 has sold 8.7m copies. That title was also 2016's highest-rated game, according to Metacritic.
“We are truly grateful for the tremendous support from our fans and partners, which has helped to make this holiday season one of the best in our history.” said Sony Interactive Entertainment president and global boss Andrew House.
“We will aim to continue the momentum this year by broadening the PS4 title portfolio, further enriching the revolutionary gaming experiences on PlayStation VR and high quality gaming experience on PlayStation4 Pro, while also expanding network services. We will remain steadfast in making the PS4 the best place to play.”
