PSN+ members get Killzone 3 beta

PS3 owners who have signed up to the PSN+ online service can download and play the Killzone 3 beta – for one day only.

The beta allows gamers to experience the upcoming PS3 exclusive FPS before its February 2011 release.

Sony made the following announcement on its European PlayStation Blog today: For a limited amount of time you will be able to download the beta straight from the PlayStation Plus section of the PS Store.

We will not be sending emails or voucher codes for this – it will simply be available for you to download straight to your console. To take part, you will need to have an active PlayStation Plus subscription and will need to be a resident in a country in which we operate an EU PlayStation Store.”

The Killzone 3 beta was previously only available to the first 10,000 PAL PSN+ subscribers who downloaded the Killzone 3 XMB theme.

Killzone 3 is the first in the series to feature stereoscopic 3D support. The game has a confirmed US release date of February 22nd, 2011, and is expected to arrive in the UK at a similar date.

Sony currently charges PSN+ users 39.99 per year, or 11.99 for three months. The premium service includes free downloadable games, wallpapers and other special offers.
