PSP goes gold

Next Generation reports that although no details of a European or US launch have been announced, the handheld will hit Japanese retail on February 22nd at Y20,790 (£90), the normal RRP for a standalone model. The console will include only an AC adapter and battery pack.

Also announced is a hardware bundle including Capcom’s Monster Hunter sequel Monster Hunter Portable 2nd. The first title was a huge hit in Japan, but is perhaps not an obvious candidate for bundling in the West.

The new Gold model will be the sixth PSP colour to arrive in Japan, though so far only the Black, White and highly successful Pink models have hit the European market. Sony unveiled the latter two colours last year at E3 and Leipzig GC respectively.
