“We want to keep supporting Quake Wars in as many ways as possible,” MD of developer Splash Damage Neil Postlewaithe stated. “We'll be maintaining the persistent stats servers and the community site, and contributing to support Quake Wars with updates and improvements.
“To help cover this level of on-going support without passing the costs on to the gamer, Quake Wars will feature appropriate advertisements in select locations of our levels.”
Enemy Territory: Quake Wars is the latest instalment in id Software’s popular series. Next-gen console versions are also planned, though there’s no word yet on whether these will also contain ads.
