Rage pushes Xbox 360 installs to the limit

Like all other Xbox 360 games, id Software’s sandbox shooter Rage will allow gamers to install it onto their console’s HDD. Unlike other games, however, it’s going to require a huge amount of space.

ShopTo reckons that in total the game could require as much as 22GB as part of its installation. This also suggests that it will be a multi-disc SKU.

On the 360 we don’t have a partial install option,” id’s John Carmack told a Quakecon audience. It’s all or nothing, which is kind of unfortunate.

This means you have to install 21/22GB of stuff which takes a long time but if you’ve got it and you play it on the 360 that’s the way to go.”

The game is due out in the UK on October 7th.
