Reef to publish 360 and PS3 games

Reef Entertainment will publish HD console games beginning with PS3 Move pirate adventure Captain Morgane later this year.

The publisher – which has received major investment from distributor Creative Distribution – has previously focused on PC and Wii games in recent years. Notably, it brought the 1m+ selling Sniper Elite to Wii last year which has sold more than 100,000 copies in Europe.

Reef is in the process of building a new team with the strategy of producing a ‘fewer but bigger’ portfolio of games for this year and next.

Reef’s first PS3 Move and DS game Captain Morgane and the Golden Turtle will be released in Q4 this year. It will also arrive on PC and Wii. Captain Morgane is a point-and-click-style title penned by Broken Sword writer Steve Ince and developed by Wizarbox – the producers of console adventure Gray Matter.

Reef Entertainment CEO Peter Rezon said: Reef has always focused on unique and quality products, more so than quantity. Captain Morgane and the Golden Turtle will be our first game on PS3 and already it’s generating interest as it couples a great story together with the innovative Sony Move controller which adventure and casual gamers alike will enjoy.”

MCV can also reveal the firm has secured the video game rights to a global movie franchise which will be announced later this month.

We’re in the process of discussing the project with a number of development studios for a multiformat game and we’re focused on securing a deal by the end of this year,” added Rezon.

I believe people will be impressed that Reef Entertainment has secured this franchise – we’re building the company up carefully, step by step, and we’re continuing to focus on unique, high quality titles.”
