Controversial (if not infamous) manufacturing company Foxconn will try its hand at developing mobile games, according to a new report.
A piece on Bloomberg states that Foxconn chairman Terry Gou addressed media in Taiwan regarding the company’s plans to move away from contract manufacturing for Apple and other large companies in favor of products and services of higher-value.”
He revealed that the firm is currently developing several” mobile titles. The first one is due out within the next six months, and is being developed in conjunction with Transformers Online studio NetDragon.
Gau noted the NetDragon partnership is proof of Foxconn’s new commitment to game development.
Foxconn has made major news over the past couple years – and usually it’s for all the wrong reasons. The company admitted to violating child labour laws in 2012, and just last month fessed up to forced student labour for PS4 manufacturing.
