Vegetarians and squeamish types might want to turn away.
Capcom will tomorrow open the world’s first human butchery at London’s famous Smithfields meat market. It will trade for two days from Friday September 28th.
It’s fronted by fictional butcher Wesker & Son and will offer members of the public the chance to “sample and purchase a dizzying array of edible human limbs including hands, feet and a human head”.
Capcom adds: “Gamers will be able to buy 'Peppered Human & Lemon Sausages' and 'J’avo Caught Human Thigh Steaks' along with some specially made pots of Red Herb and Green Herb. All proceeds from the sale of the meat will be donated to the Limbless Association, which provides information and support to the limb-loss community.”
The work has been done by food artist Sharon Baker, street food aficionados Tongue N Cheek, food business Homemade Hampers and official friend of MCV Loading Bar, which will be handling the drinks. Examples of the cocktails on offer are the 'Stool Sample' (which is served in a specimen bag) and 'Puss'.
“We, at Capcom, are thrilled to be bringing Wesker & Son’s to Smithfields,” UK PR manager Adam Merrett stated. “If the C-Virus was to become a reality, there would be No Hope Left in the world, and so we want to create the scare and tension that fans and new players will experience in Resident Evil 6 into the real world.
“We are extremely proud to be working with these talented food and drink mixologists. Between them they’ll help bring Resident Evil 6 to life through the human senses, fleshing out the fear and potential reality, to showcase the lengths we would need to go to survive if the C-virus was to grip the world.”
Also planned are two days of lectures at St. Bartholomew’s Hospital Pathology Museum that will explore the themes of the game and how they relate to the real world. These events can be registered for here and here.
Resident Evil 6 will be released in the UK next Tuesday (October 2nd).
