Resident Evil 6 tops Japanese charts

The PS3 version of resident Evil 6 has debuted at the top of the Japanese charts.

The SKU sold an impressive 635k units in its first week, eclipsing everything else in the listings. The Xbox 360 version claimed fifth place with unit sales of 42k.

There was also a strong debut for Konami’s World Soccer: Winning Eleven 2012 (that’s PES 2013 to us in the West), which sold 224k on PS3, claiming second place in the charts.

Sony’s PS3 was the best selling system of the week, shifting 42k units – a massive surge from the sub-9k units sold the week before.

The 3DS XL was next up (39k) followed by the 3DS (25k) and PSP (18k), with Vita languishing far behind with just under 8k. Interestingly the Xbox 360 outsold the Wii 0 4,894 units to 4,849. That’s thanks to Resident Evil too, with last week’s Xbox 360 unit sales reaching just 742 units.
