It could be one of the biggest releases of 2011, yet retail seems to have decided that it won’t be going to war over the price of Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim.
Even HMV is not doing its usual low-price trade-in title on the game, which has become a regular feature on the High Street in the last few weeks.
GAME, however, has announced a deal. It will be selling the title for £4.99 to anyone who trades-in a copy of either Batman: Arkham City, Battlefield 3, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 or Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception.
The supermarkets seem to be sticking with near-RRP prices, though, with Sainsbury’s going for £36.99, Morrisons £37 and Tesco £37.97.
It remains to be seen whether we’ve seen the end of widespread discounting on games this year or whether the likes of Zelda: Skyward Sword, Super Mario 3D Land, Need for Speed: The Run, Assassin’s Creed: Revelations, Zumba Fitness 2, Halo: Anniversary, Mario Kart 7, Star Wars: The Old Republic, LEGO Harry Potter and Saints Row 3 will be too much for retail to resist.

The RRP is £49.99 so Sainsburys @£36.99 are offering 26% off of the RRP.

Hi Stuart,
The RRP for Skyrim is actually £54.99. By near-RRP I believe Ben means near the usual price of a new game that retailers opt for (around £39.99).

So that makes it even further from the RRP!
And as is standard these days, cheaper through a supermarket than official distribution.
