Major retailers on both sides of the Atlantic have given the first indication of pricing for Xbox 360.
According to US reports, Wal-Mart expects the console to be priced at $299. HMV, meanwhile, has slapped a £299 pre-order tag on the unit.
However, expectation across retail is that the final RRP for the machine will fall well below the £299 mark, with most predicting £250 or below.
“It’s common sense from a marketing perspective for us to price it higher than expected,” said an HMV spokesperson, explaining the pricing decision. “The online price is our best guess at what it may be.”
Microsoft is expected to announce launch details at the Leipzig Games Convention later this month.
