The game is set for release on PS2, PSP and Wii this summer and is the debut title from the newly-formed Rockstar London, which is creating the game in conjunction with series creator Rockstar North. The Wii version is being developed by Rockstar Toronto.
"With Manhunt 2 we have tried to create a game that stays close to the original concept of chilling suspense and stealth, while pushing the game design and story telling forward," said Sam Houser, executive producer and founder of Rockstar Games.
"We are also excited to have our newest development team, Rockstar London, working on the title alongside our two established UK studios, Rockstar North and Leeds."
The original Manhunt game created a storm of controversy in 2005 when it was linked to the murder of 14-year old Stefan Pakeerah, with the resulting media uproar seeing the game pulled from retail shelves.
However, the police and the judge involved in the case later refuted that there was any such link between the game and the murder.
