Take-Two has renewed the trademark for Rockstar’s spy action game, Agent, suggesting that it may still be in development.
Agent was first announced by Sony at its E3 2009 press conference as a game being developed by Rockstar North exclusively for PlayStation 3.
In a press release following that announcement, Rockstar revealed – “Agent takes players on a paranoid journey into the world of counter-intelligence, espionage and political assassinations during the height of the Cold War at the end of the 1970s”.
Rockstar founder Sam Houser had said back then that he believed Agent was the “ultimate action game” and a game his company had been wanting to make for a long time.
Not a single screenshot or video has ever been released of the game, and some reports had also suggested that the game may end up on multiple platforms. The trademark filing does reference the game's logo, which is all that has been officially shown so far.
With Grand Theft Auto V set for release in September, even if Agent is indeed still in the works, it’s unlikely we’ll hear about it from Rockstar for a long time.
