Row erupts over Play logos

by Lisa Foster
“The ‘Play It’ brand identity is built around its distinctive name and logo, the latter consisting of the stylised words ‘Play It’, with the word ‘It’ appearing to be printed on a red ball,” explained Play It CEO Mark Cale.

“We are absolutely shocked to see Digital Bridges’ rebranding based around the word ‘Play’ and a red ball on which is printed the label name.

“Our lawyers have been instructed and we intend to take every step available to us to protect our name, brand and logo.”

I-play’s CEO Brian Greasley responded: “Whilst we believe it is inappropriate to comment about legal matters in this forum, it must be made clear that our lawyers have strongly advised us that we are not in any way infringing the rights of Play It and that we will be vigorously defending any claims that are brought.”
