Sony’s PS4 is facing up to what could be a fairly disruptive blow to its launch plans.
Kotaku claims to have received verification from a “person familiar with goings-on at Sony” that launch title DriveClub is going to be delayed and will miss the PS4’s launch.
The rumour stems from The Same Coin.
Sony has told MCV that it isn’t yet able to comment on the chatter. The game’s design director Paul Rustchynsky said on Twitter that he “doesn’t have any new information to share”.
Following the delay earlier in the week of Ubisoft’s high-profile launch title Watch Dogs, the potential loss of DriveClub is a big blow for PS4, particularly as Microsoft has Forza 5 primed and ready for the Xbox One launch.
Indeed, should it come to fruition PS4 would be left with just two high-profile launch exclusives – Killzone: Shadow Fall and Knack – along with a handful of digital titles.
Xbox One, on the other hand, will arrive alongside the likes of Dead Rising 3, Ryse, Killer Instinct and Turn 10’s aforementioned racer, as well as lower-profile releases such as Fighter Within and Crimson Dragon.
Both machines will of course welcome big third-party titles such Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag, Battlefield 4, Call of Duty: Ghosts, Need for Speed: Rivals and FIFA 14.
