Sam Raimi quits World of Warcraft movie

Fresh whispers of a feature film based on World of Warcraft reveal that Sam Raimi is no longer at the helm.

The Spider-Man director and WoW fan was announced as director for the Blizzard film way back in 2009. However, he left the project to make Disney’s upcoming fantasy flick Oz the Great and Powerful, according to IGN.

"They don’t have me directing World of Warcraft anymore because when I took the Oz job, they had to move on to another director," Raimi told Crave Online."They had to start making it."

There’s no word on who the new director will be, but it sounds like progress is finally being made on the movie, which wasfirst announced back in 2006. The WoW film is being handled by Legendary Pictures.
