Second-rate James Bond games a thing of the past

Developer Treyarch insists that its upcoming title Quantum of Solace, will draw a line under the disappointing Bond games of the past, whilst also claiming that it will represent a return to form for the popular franchise.

Quantum of Solace is set to be released alongside the movie this Christmas, and will be the first James Bond game to be released since Activision won the licence from Electronic Arts back in 2006.

We’re not trying to fix anything EA did wrong, because that’s just what they did,” explained Quantum of Solace’s executive producer Garrett Young.

I’m sure the series pissed off a lot of gamers over the last few years as the games started to go downhill, but we have no control over that.”

The pressure we feel is more about launching this franchise in the right way. We know that you only have one chance to make a really great first impression, and this is it.”

Quantum of Solace: The Game makes full use of the critically acclaimed Call of Duty 4 engine, and combines both third and first person camera angles. It’s based on both 2006’s blockbuster smash Casino Royale and the upcoming new movie starring Daniel Craig, and Treyarch hopes the game can mimic both films’ inevitable success:

We hope Quantum of Solace the movie will be very successful,” concluded Young.

Casino Royale was tremendously successful so I expect this film will do well, too. And I’m confident that our game will do great on the back of that.”
